He Doesn't Want Anything
Fall 2021
He Doesn't Want Anything is a website designed to make holiday shopping for others easier.
Please note that the site is active but no longer accepts orders. Additionally, some products contain explicit language by request of the target market, but this language is not in my professional vernacular.

Purpose:
The project took place in Fall 2021. The assignment objective was to create a functional business to operate at the Builder Marketplace, a function hosted in the UNL College of Business each year for students to demonstrate their businesses and sell products/services to faculty and students. All proceeds were donated to the organization of each group's choice.
Assignment Deliverables
-
Create a startup business that will generate income to donate
-
Create a website
-
Create social media presence for the startup
-
Draft a written plan
-
Draft a writeup regarding the process, execution, and intention of the project
-
Present plan to class and donation organization
Notes
He Doesn't Want Anything was my idea and went through several stages of development. The name changed several times, and the purpose of the site did not meet my initial expectations. I intended the site to accept information about the gift receiver like age and interests and return suggested gifts to the user. Due to the limited functionality of Wix and time constraints, I could not make my wishes for the site come to life. The preorder phase did not have enough time or traction to prove effective.
The team was rather dysfunctional until we learned we were not going to succeed unless we worked together better. I designed the website, wrote the proposals, and created all the designs for the organization. The team hand-made, packed, and shipped each item. I felt the work was not equitable and was very disappointed my team was not as passionate about the idea as I was. I felt the project was a failure because it did not meet my expectations, but I learned that if I had taken the time to get to know my team and their strengths, I would've been more successful as a leader and a team member. Though it is not a positive example of my teamwork or leadership, it was an extremely important step and lesson in my professional development. Overall, we made over $400 to donate to our charity, which is more than any other group in the Builders program made from their start-up.

I created this video as a promotional piece of media for He Doesn't Want Anything. I used photos from our website linked above to develop the video. For the class assignment, we were expected to make a video demonstrating our products, our business, our mission, and introduce our team to the public.
