I'm a Midwest transplant (several times over), lifelong writer, crafter, traveler, and 90s Dad-Rock enthusiast who loves to build things from-scratch and make order from chaos.

Meet Artemis →
In my quest to get a low-maintenance animal that lets me travel, I naturally became the reluctant nurse to one very needy, very vocal, and incredibly sweet diabetic cat.
He was a girl when I got him, hence his name, but when he got sick the first time at five years old (and just one month since adopting him), I found out he was a boy. Not only did he have a chronic illness, but his meds accelerated the onset of diabetes.
Want to know where I am? Probably administering insulin or at the vet again.
Good thing he's a perfect (only sometimes evil) little guy.

- How I Got Here -
I love to build things, especially when other people are excited about it.
In high school and college, I studied entrepreneurship and marketing and spent that whole stretch pitching and building my own startup ideas, some certainly better than others. Pitching my first startup idea during a Shark Tank assignment gave me a thrill that turned into a lifelong love of entrepreneurship.
I love to write and create, and I'm endlessly curious about the psychology and motivations people. Marketing lets me pair my soft and creative skills with hard data, creating a lot of variety in my work and continuously challenging me to learn new skills. It touches every other part of a company, which means there's always a new problem to solve and a new department to work with. Variety keeps me creative and motivated.
I found my way to Kansas City through what used to be the Venture For America fellowship. The program actually shut down just before I landed in KC, but thankfully the alumni network was alive and well. I'm still closely connected to KC's VFA alumni network, and I've been lucky enough to work alongside two VFA alums at Idle Smart.
